Clear Sky Solar Cleaning was built on one simple idea: do things the right way in an industry that often doesn’t.
Matt first worked in solar as an apprentice installer, learning the hands-on side of how systems are built and maintained. Later, he moved into solar consulting — but at the time, he was failing in that world. Why? Because he refused to play the game. Matt always told customers every detail of what their solar journey should look like instead of just the “tip of the iceberg.” His honesty made him stand out — but it also made it harder to fit into an industry that often prioritized quick sales over transparency.
That experience sparked the idea for something better: a company built on honesty, hard work, and doing right by people.
While studying at the University of Tampa, Matt met Justin — a hardworking security guard managing a college bar’s security team. Matt joined the same crew to earn extra money while finishing school, and the two became fast friends with a shared drive to build something real.
In 2022, Matt turned his senior-year project into what would become Clear Sky Solar Cleaning. That project earned 2nd place in the University of Tampa’s Shark Tank competition, and by the end of that year, the two officially launched the business.
They started small — Matt driving a 2012 Kia Sportage loaded with solar-safe cleaning gear and Justin hauling ladders in his Jeep Grand Cherokee. Together, they learned everything they could: watching tutorials, taking safety courses through Soilar Tech, and working alongside their friend Carla Dawson, who helped them refine safe and effective cleaning techniques.
What started as two friends learning on the go has grown into one of Florida’s most trusted solar maintenance companies — built on the same grit, honesty, and transparency that inspired it in the first place.
